The simplest way to think of Bettr is in the same way as your regular GP. That means any health concern you would usually go to see your GP for, can most likely be seen to with a virtual appointment on Bettr, but with benefits.

The benefit of Bettr is that you don’t have all the hassle that may come with seeing your regular GP. No driving. No hanging around in a waiting room. And no dragging yourself out of bed when you’re feeling sick.

With Bettr, you can see a doctor from wherever you are at a time that best suits you. At work, during your lunch break? Yes! With the kids at home? Yes! On holiday and away from home? Yes! As long as you have a smart device and access to the internet, we can see you.

Available 8 am to 8 pm seven days a week; you no longer have to put your health on hold because it’s too hard to get to your doctor. It’s super affordable too. Free for any patients under 14 and only $10 for all other enrolled patients, Bettr makes healthcare more accessible than ever.

What do we treat at Bettr?

Just like your regular GP, we can help you with most common health issues.

Rashes, pains, bumps and lumps, coughs and runny noses - our skilled doctors can diagnose and treat a surprising amount of issues via video (or even just a phone call). If we find during a consultation that we cannot treat it, we will help to direct you to any one of our nearly 50 affiliated clinics, from Whangarei to Christchurch.

We offer other convenient services, too:

With our Bettr telehealth service, you will also have the ability to access:

• Online prescriptions
  
  We can prescribe most common medications through our online consultations. This is great when you require a prescription at the end of your Bettr appointment or are seeking a repeat. You also have the choice to have these delivered to you for $5 or pick them up for free from your local pharmacy.

• Medical certificates
  
  We can issue medical certificates for work absence or ACC. If you are enrolled with Tāmaki Health, we can issue medical certificates for WINZ financial assistance.

• Referrals
  
  We can refer you to additional care services like physiotherapy and mental care.

• ACC injury and care
  
  After you have had an initial injury assessment in clinic, ongoing care and follow-up online doctors appointments can be used to monitor your status and keep you on track to good health.

There’s a good reason why we can’t help you with some things.

The health concerns we can’t support via Bettr concern medical emergencies. In a medical emergency, time is of the essence, and you should not use virtual doctor appointments. 

There are key symptoms that may indicate you are experiencing a medical emergency and are something to be aware of the next time you or someone you are close to is unwell. If you experience any of the following, please call 111 for immediate attention.

Emergency symptoms may include, but are not limited to:

• Sudden or severe shortness of breath
• Chest pain
• Loss of consciousness
• Lacerations
• Broken bones
• Traumatic head injury
• Vomiting or coughing up blood
• Overdoses
• Suicidal intent
• Severe headache
• Severe burns
• Severe bleeding

Health Tip:

If you have difficulties speaking or hearing on the phone, you can register for a special 111 TXT service. Allowing you to access Fire, Ambulance and Police services via your mobile device, if this service applies to you, we recommend registering for it today.
