Step 3 - After your appointment
During your consultation the doctor may discuss next steps. Next steps may include receiving a prescription, a medical certificate, a specialist referral appointment, or an in-person consultation.
If you require a medical certificate or a referral the doctor will email this to you following your consult. Please note this can take up to an hour.
If the doctor prescribes you medication during your consultation, you will receive an SMS. Choose between home delivery or browse to find your most convenient pharmacy for pick-up. If you opt for home delivery, you can choose a time that suits you and the pharmacy will be in touch to arrange this; or if you opt to pick up, the pharmacy will give you a time to collect your medication. Pick-up is free and delivery is just $5.
If you require face to face treatment or an in-person follow up after your online consult, you can be referred to one of our Local Doctor or White Cross clinics.
Medical emergency symptoms such as sudden or severe shortness of breath, chest pain, loss of consciousness, lacerations, broken bones, traumatic head injury, vomiting or coughing up blood, overdoses, suicidal intent, severe headache, severe burns, and severe bleeding are not suitable for online consultation. Please call emergency services on 111 for these situations. Additionally, initial ACC assessments require an in-person clinic visit.
Standard appointments are up to 10 minutes of face time with the clinician, with additional time allocated for notes and follow-up tasks.
If you have a complex issue or several things to discuss, the clinician may recommend booking a second appointment during your consultation.
