Frequently Asked Questions

  • The Bettr doctor is not my regular GP; will my regular GP be informed about this online consultation?

If you're in Christchurch the Bettr doctor may not be your regular GP. In this case you will be asked to identify your usual GP or health clinic and for permission for us to send a copy of your visit records to this doctor/clinic. You may decline to do this.

  • Do I have to enrol or register to see a doctor online?

We don't require you to register or enrol, simply tell us a little about yourself and we’ll do the rest.

  • How can the doctor really know what is wrong if I don't see them in person?

The doctor can see you via the video screen, but that’s less necessary to the consultation than you might think. In fact, it’s the your history that provides about 90% of the clinical diagnosis. Think of these visits like a house call, without the unnecessary travel time.

  • Can I see a doctor online for $45 in Christchurch?

Unfortunately right now we are only able to offer $45 consultations to patients registered with Tamaki Health clinics based in Auckland. You can still make use of our great service for just $75 or it's free for under-14's.

  • Can I only see an online doctor for certain kinds of health conditions?

Actually, no. Seeing a doctor online today can be used to treat everything from the common cold to post-surgical wound care. Everything from migraines to acne to mental health counselling can be treated while using this technology. It’s common today for doctors to use these tools to coordinate patient care, or to use them in their clinics. Learn more about what we can and can't treat.

  • Can I cancel or change my appointment?

Yes of course. Unfortunately there may be charges to do this if it’s less than 24 hours before your appointment. Please see our cancellation policy.
